Front suspension and ignorance

My replacement front airbags have just arrived and one looks damaged. The side of the airbag is pushed in and the silver ring around the top is lop-sided. Will filling it with air sort this out, or ahould I return it?

They do look a bit pathetic with no air in... can't remember about the band, is it the same as the other one?? the pushed in bit will soon come out when it's got air in... Pete

The left hand one looks perfect, with the ring square to the top of the whole thing. Perhaps a go with a compressor is the answer.

Thanks, all

They're Dunlop, and it's not the bag itself so much as the angle of the sealing? ring at the top

Under UK consumer law, if you've been sold defective goods it's the retailers responsibility to pay return costs.

Difficult to enforce from 12'000 miles away but any decent retailer should accept it.

Key phrases to use are that you're "rejecting the goods" as being "not fit for purpose". Also ask them if they checked it's condition before dispatch, any decent mail order firm should do before sending it to the other side of the world.

You shouldn't be left out of pocket for returning faulty goods, though you might have to pay for the return and claim it back later. It doesn't matter that you're not in the UK, the sale was carried out under UK law. Wink

correspond with the overseas supplier, they wont actually want it back, just tell them that it will cost them even more, in that they will be covering the return postage. if they get it back it has to go back to their supplier, maybe they can just get it replaced and sent direct, and you get to look after/dispose/sell the wonky one.
big companies do this time over, they just write it off, with pictures/emails etc. you are the customer that is unsatisfied....you need another quickly, you cant wait for it to return, and then sent out...obviously be polite and thorugh.

yep i'd agree with that. Some will insist on a return, but most will just write it off and claim the cost back from their supplier. If their supplier insists on a return, then they'll claim back the cost of returning it from them anyway.
