V8 petrol sounds like a diesel

Hi, I’ve had lpg on my 03 4.4 v8 for 5/6 yrs, it runs great no problem but over the last few years it’s started sounding like a diesel, can’t explain very well. It sounds the same on petrol as well. Any ideas as it regularly serviced at a Land Rover specialist and it’s never a problem they’ve mentioned. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Try running it on just petrol for a while. I belive that running on LPG only for a long time can cause upper cylinder head issues.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I’ll see if I can afford to run it on petrol lol. I’d just like it to sound like a v8 should.is there anything else you I could get checked out.

It's unlikely to be anything fuel related most likely mechanicle , it will be the M62 engine so you should be looking at
Chain guides
Timing chain
Timing chain tensioner
Vanos

Or even manifold gaskets
