Heard this morning on the Today program.....

"The iPhone is the Range Rover of mobile phones and is loaded with hightec kit like the car, the Nokia N8 does the job - just and with no fancy toys!" This was in a discussion about the new Nokia phone launched today.
Verdict - Apple has nothing to fear from Nokia's latest. Nokia's world wide sales are 33% of total phone sales the market compared to 16% taken by iPhone, but when it comes to smart phones the situation is reversed Apple has more than 70% of the market! Nokia's market share of all the market has fallen 16% in the last 2 years and they had make 1800 staff redundant this week! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

My N8 should be arriving any time soon to replace my N97.

My N95 was double the spec of the iPhone, it could cut and paste, had a 5mp camera with flash AND could send MMS's out of the box. After a year or so the new iphone came out and it managed to get to the same spec as a 4 year old nokia.

The N8's has a faster procesor, better quality screen, more ram, HDMi and USB (u can plug usb sticks into it) FM modulator (as per N97) wifi B/G/N. It has the best camera for a phone at 12MP along with 720p recording. The user can install whatever he wants and can even replace the battery Shocked

I used Nokia all my mobile life, very good phones... Very reliable and hooked up to our office Exchange system very well...

But I have opted for the new Blackberry torch now, very impressed with it also, if not more so than the Nokia.

Nokia's more expensive models have always been well made. Nokia N8 is no exception.

I also have iPhone4, but Nokia is better. iPhone is still made for fun,
Nokia, used vith Nokia N8 accessories is made for fun and business.

Loving my Blackberry curve, does a hell of a lot more than a poxy old Sony Ericcson K800 anyway!
The novelty of an iphone is slightly appealing but with our form of dropping them I dont think I can bring myself to actually pay out money for a phone!

Well at least nobody has yet admitted to owning a diamond encrusted Vertue.............................
The ONLY reason I have an iPhone is because with various Nokias, Blackberries, Samsungs, Sony/ericsen smartphones I have owned the iPhone was the only one I have been able to get to access my hotmail email account straight out of the box - all the rest even the spotty yoofs in the O2 stores couldn't make them download hotmail - the most difficult to get to do anything at all except be a very expensive phone was the so-called email specialist, the Blackberry Pearl, no matter what anybody did it wouldn't access email for me. Bought an iPhone 3g, opened the box, followed the steps and low and behold within 2 minutes emails were delivered automatically from 5 email accounts without me doing anything other than putting in my password when I set up the accounts. iPad was just as simple too. My first mobile and incredibly smart smartphone was original Nokia 9000 - brilliant kit but it wasn't multiband which made it pretty useless outside Europe when I travelled and it was HUGE. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

The Curve is possibly the best all rounder on the market, with amazing battery life. I was annoyed that my 2010 RR did not have a place for my LR phone tho...despite both being launched in tandem...

Oh and I guess I can announce my impending Directorship of Shebang Smile Land Rover Addict
