Hi jolyoly - Sorry to hear about your troubles Sad - however, you have mentioned that its a Range Rover Sport - is this correct? (this is the forum for the bigger L322 Range Rover, if it is a Sport have you tried the RRSPORT.CO.UK forum) - also - have you had this car from new?

Hi delamo sorry i am new to all this, will look into the other site but as the engines are the same (i think) its probbaly worth keeping an eye.

i have had the car for just over one year, it has full rr sevice history and apart from the problems is a great car

No need to apologise jolyoly - just wanted to confirm exactly what RR you had, your post mentioned Sport but your profile said otherwise...

...I am pretty sure they are the exact same engine anyways - however, I don't recall anyone with a TDV8 on here having problems with their turbos etc.

I take it all warranties your car has had have all expired? - I have heard of LR considering some claims on cars and paying a percentage of a major repair bill because the vehicle is only just out of the original manufacturers warranty - but this all depends on their co-operation, the strength of your arguement with them and history of the car...

... is yours completely factory standard with a full main dealer service record or has it been tweaked with remaps or trick boxes to increase the engine performance in anyway Question

all service history upto date even took it to main dealer for 1st mot
and totally standard, i did take out a warranty from the dealer i bought it from (car sales not range rover) just got fingers crossed it will be covered it seems so contradictory when you read these booklets on what is covered and what is excluded.

Exactly how old is the car - it would have had a comprehensive 3yr manufacturers warranty since its first date of registration (which would have been transferrable to you - if you became the new owner within that period)

Any secondary warranty cover would not have the same comprehensive cover - did the warranty you purchased overlap the original warranty for any period of time?

If it did - you could argue that the additional warranty should have started once the original had expired...

...when did the warranty you purchased from your independant dealer who sold you the car expire? - and who was the warranty company?

... i cannot guarantee you will have any success - just trying to provide ideas Whistle

Hayup,
My mate has a TDV8 and it had a RH turbo failure about a mile after a service at a Land Rover Franchise. Initially, the oil light flickered and he pulled over, called the garage, they told him to bring it back and it was billowing smoke by the time he got there.

With the Sport, its a "body off" job to replace the RH turbo, that will be one of the reasons for the high cost Rolling Eyes

when i was geting my software updated last month , there was a tdv8 with a blown turbo too, they had one of the heads off too, so maybe there were pieces of turbo in the head, it was the left one looking at the car from the front. 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift
