Keeping the other half happy

My wife loves the FFRR's more than I do Very Happy and even more so the L405

I've run winter wheels & tyres for many years - and with the L322 had a different wheel style for winter - basically diamond cut for summer - but a regular painted alloy for winter.

However, she didn't approve of the 21's I bought for winter, so I was instructed to buy another set of the 22's we run for summer - the turbine style things. I briefly entertained the idea of the darker painted rims like these, but when I showed SWMBO a picture, was told (correctly) that they looked like a dirty version of the wheels we have.

So I've bought another set of diamond cut wheels - the things you have to do Rolling Eyes

Just about the worst thing you can run in winter is diamond cut, so I'm trying to protect them as best I can for winter - the Winter Contis went on today & I've applied 3 coats of Poorboys wheel sealant - I may do another coat or two in the morning before I actually fit the wheels.

Any other advice on how to help diamond cut wheels to survive the winter ?

I know it's kind of like moaning about a wife that likes threesomes (with another woman) - but I wish she would like a more sensible winter wheel Embarassed

Probably last a winter then start showing the corrosion worming (for lack of a better description) after that.

If you really wanted that look, then the only way I reckon is a full coat of paint, but detail the polished areas with silver paint instead.

Or just let em turn to sh1it and tell her ... "Told you so" . . . I'm sure she would appreciate the feedback . . . V8 or else ...

Hard Polish Shocked not the runny stuff, did mine ages ago and it's helped stop the dirt getting a good hold, infact you only have to show the wheels a hose pipe and the dirt falls off Thumbs Up If it's good enough for the paint then it's fine for the wheels too, but don't do the tyres Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Rolling with laughter Would certainly cost me a lot more to get rid of the wife - and she loves FFRR's so isn't all bad Thumbs Up

I guess it's a few more coats of sealant & hope for the best. If they end up knackered I will just have to refurb them with a painted finish Thumbs Up

Easy to make them last the winter, take them off at the end of each day, wash and polish both sides, dry in the garage, refit the next morning...

That's what I do with SWMBO car, anything to keep her happy..... Whistle Whistle Whistle Pete

Rolling with laughter

The second set of wheels for Winter tyres is something I've done for years - but I've always had different ones from the summer.

I do it for all our cars, so have a big pile of wheels & tyres down the side of the house.

I should have done the sensible thing & just had the tyres swapped, but it's done now - 4 coats of Poorboy Wheel Sealant on the front & 2 coats on the back of each wheel Thumbs Up
