Gearbox software upgrade

Transferred this post as requested by Stan , it was originally posted in "what did you do today " thread

The software upgrade was done by independent JLR specialists , in Paisley. It was part of a series of other things they did at the same time. Including
replacing spoiler brake light (part cost £81)
Doing service bulletin for noisy power steering (pas oil and lubrizol cost £40)
Testing rear view camera module (while the spoiler was off) works intermittently but not changed it yet because the JLR spare camera is poor camera by today's standards
Updating TCM software to stop harsh roll out from 2nd to 1st ( item cost £55)
Labour total £215
Parts total £126
Net £341
Inc vat £409

Has it done the trick? The bump stop fix software gets very mixed reviews - sometimes it works, sometimes not. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Yes I can report that it has removed all the soft thuds and clonks I was feeling before
(These might have been a bit amplified in my mind though)
The only puzzle was why it showed "no current version" when they tested it

Although given the accumulated miles ( 100K) I will get JLR specialists to do a fluid and filter swap fairly soon
I might also talk to them about terracleaning the engine at some time, there has got to be 100k's worth of crud in there

If you are a Buddy or live near , JLR can be reached on 0141 877 2861
They seem like a half decent outfit, their LR trained technician seems very knowledgable

Paisley people= Buddies for those members who are not fortunate enough to to live there
Paisley aka "a town called malice"

In answer to Alanm
They are next to St Mirren's magnificent new stadium
Pity they no longer have the team to match

prestigejaguar.com

I strongly recommend you get it done ASAP - preferrably a full flush rather than just a fluid change (I wouldn't bother with the filter though). ZF recommend it at 50-75k. As the mileage increases, the old oil can mask issues in the box, so you can enter a world of trouble before you even know anything's wrong... Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

TBH the car has a good MD service record (Lookers in London), but I don't know if the transmission fluid was ever changed, maybe not , so I would be doing this for peace of mind

AS I said , my mind was conjuring up transmission disaster each time there was any unusual sensation, and there is nothing untoward at all now, NOT YET ANYWAY

It's highly unlikely that they would have replaced the tranny fluid. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
