Hello all,

I received my IID BT today and got it up and running. Great bit of kit at first glance.
I have an airbag fault light on which can be cleared by the IID but comes back on again, obviously suggesting a hard fault.
The fault is described as the following;

B0070-13 (AA) Driver's safety belt pretensioner deployment control - General electrical failure - circuit open.

Any idea as to where to look to remedy this.

Ian, thats a seat belt fault not an air bag.

Maybe check the wiring under the seat for any loose connections?

PaulB - Thanks for the reply. I assumed that the airbag and seatbelt system were connected and shared the same warning light. I will do the check though.
How easy is it to remove the seat?

Thanks Stan - I had a quick look under the seat earlier when it was light and there wasn't any clearance to be able to see anything, so sliding the seat is a job for tomorrow.
It does point towards a loose cable as the light came on right after the seat painter had done his stuff and he was moving the seat to it's fullest travel both forwards and backwards.
Just as a side issue, when I looked for the OBD port, there is a small button located under the panel to the left of the port.
Any idea what that is?

Issue resolved.

I moved the seat to it's maximum travel forwards and backwards and couldn't see anything untoward after poking around a bit, but on restarting the car the light had gone out
You guys were right on the money.
There is obviously a loose connection. I might just leave it for now and if the light comes back on then remove the seat and have a proper look.
So the IID is starting to pay for itself and this forum keeps on providing invaluable advice.

I had this same fault. I did the same as Ian. Seat full forward and back, restart, fault gone.

The fault has not returned during the last three months or so, therefore I'm confident it will not return unless the seat is moved to it's extreme and there's no real need to do that. The connection must be strained just enough to cause a problem but not enough to fully disconnect the loom. rar110, here's hoping the same applies to you mate.

thanks Ian, especially for the solution.

I was particularly chuffed as this fault presented the first opportunity to utilise my new BT IID tool to fix a problem. The tool told me what the fault was in full, copied the fault description into google and there immediately was the solution at Fullfatrr.  ______________________________

Looks like I'm not as lucky as you Ian. The warning light is back and won't go away after I put the seat forward to do some vacuuming. I might have to in bolt the seat to try to fix the loose connection. ______________________________

Today I did some fiddling around under the driver seat and spotted what looks like the seatbelt pre tensioner, that appears to be a small motor to pull or tension the seatbelt. I wiggled the two wires going into the motor and eventually the fault in the dash disappeared. Here's a couple of pics of the motor.

Nice to see the photos are suitably orientated for antipodean use  .
