4.4 tdv8 intermittent wheel sensor fault code

Replaced the rear left wheel speed sensor after multiple faults and that was the only fault that wouldn’t clear (C0037). Fault didn’t reappear for a week. Now it’s started again. Checked the connector under the wheel arch and that’s fine. C0037 25(ECool rear right wheel speed sensor general signal failure signal shape/waveform failure. Any experience on here of what this may be ? Known chafing point in the wiring somewhere ?

Check the integrity of the trigger wheel on the hub - loose, missing teeth due to corrosion or misaligned. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I’m liking that diagnosis. Would make sense. I’ll let you know once I’ve taken it apart

Ring looks fine and intact. I cleaned out the sensor hole a bit more. Seemed fine for a short drive and now it’s started again with the new sensor. IID tool shows that wheel at zero mph whilst the others show normal when in fault mode. It sometimes resets with no faults. Cleaned up the connector under the arch in case it’s that. Fingers crossed but I think it may be an intermittent wiring fault.

The ring can indeed look intact but can also be off the shaft and corroded onto the inside of the knuckle!
Did you rotate the shaft when looking at the ring?

I spun the hub and it was normal. As in it was attached to the driveshaft and looked in good condition. I’ve given the connector another good clean. Since then the multi faults including the left rear abs sensor have not returned. However , it did go into Adaptive Suspension fault in the front left. This is due to a broken wire which I have now fixed. I am now wondering if in fact this was the main fault and the breaking wire confused the Canbus into saying the rear left abs sensor was faulty. Interestingly the rear left abs sensor would give a reading that the wheel was going round when the car was parked. This was during the period I was measuring all four wheel speeds simultaneously with the IID.

Fingers crossed. Now that I’ve repaired the damaged wire that feeds the top of the front left shock (Adaptive Suspension) with the Land Rover repair kit this appears to have prevented all of these faults repeating themselves.
