First Medium Distance Trip

Hi Folks,

Just did a 4 day Safari to Western Uganda and my first long distance (time wise) trip in the RR. And impressive too. Comfortable, dvd's for rear seat passengers etc.

Just over 1100klms and the OBC reported 11.1L/100klms. This with roof rack and second spare wheel on too.

Lion Spotting.

I'll do a bit of a write up with Pictures in the African section.

Cheers, Jerry

Okay, so that was moved from General, very efficiently!

So went to the Ugandan/DRC boarder in the west. Probably my favourite area in this country. Diverse. On the Equator, snow on the mountains, huge plains and lakes plus volcanic craters.

Dry season so of the 1100klms about 300 off road. Dust appalling but vehicle sealing excellent. Corrigations and smooth dirt as below:

Dust was bad, this after only 17klms:

Elephants everywhere, a real success story here, but they don't really like you. Poaching is a problem.

Went Lion spotting and to a crater lake to find pink flamingos:

The lodge is great and because of the time of year, almost empty:

Last night there it rained for the first time in two months, so car had a wash!

All in all a enjoyable trip, but I do need better tyres.

Cheers, Jerry
