Took the ff out for the first time in 2 months today...noticed whenever I select drive or reverse the car slightly jumps .when its on the move its fine..? I'm planning on getting a gearbox service shortly as well....never had a rangie and my only comparison is my merc which is smooth upon selection?

Certainly jumps if it's cold as the revs are raised, what is yours ticking over at when warm, should be 700rpm with aircon on...

They will never match a merc for smoothness... too many joints between the gearbox and the wheels...

If it's real bad all the time then it could be propshaft joints x 4, axle slop x 2, or driveshaft joints x 8.....  Pete

It does sit at 700 with aircon on I've noticed it dips to about 500rpm then straight back to 700 once engines warmed up? This happens a few times then eventually stops !...Thanks for the input..will get the joints checked out whilst its at my mates garage getting a big service next week..first proper drive of the ff today,zero stereo on ..the v8 sounds amazing! Best car I've owned to date...
