Hi all - here's my 4.4V8 - I absolutely love it. I switched to the RR from a 1996 Defender 300TDi 110 so it was like going from a tractor to Rolls Royce.

Only two things wrong with it at the moment, central locking isn't working on the N/S front door and the O/S rear door.

In the future I'd like to upgrade the CD system to give me Bluetooth compatibility and add hands-free calling. Also need to install digital TV for the screens which at the moment are pretty much redundant.

I needed a larger vehicle for my "larger" dog

Get the door lock assemblies changed asap if they totally fail and happen to be in the deadlocked position you will have to cut through the doorcard and door to get them open to fix it...

I've changed a couple of mine, they are pretty easy to do, I bought second hand as I'm a tight northerner (well I am since I moved up here...!!!)

I think that must have been a good time for production as they seem to have been put together well. Mine's on 183,000 and original in almost everything internal (except Water pump x 2, Radiator)

Ref the locks, try oiling them firs to see if this unlocks them. There are a few posts on this. Use Search. I had a stuck one for a while but lubed up well to normal!


Ps does yours have a FBH? (weren't std on the petrol)

I hadn't thought about lubricating the locks - the impatient side of my brain told me I had to jump in and replace the solenoids! The mechanisms lock - but don't unlock although I can hear the solenoid activating when I press the button. So lubricating them sounds more sensible (And cheaper) at least as a first action.

There's no FBH on my RR - although I'm not sure I'd find it necessary - that being said I thought a heated steering wheel was going to be superfluous - but I love it!

Oh yes - the dog certainly is Huge!

if both door locks have failed I would say there is a good chance you have a faulty BCM module as that is what controls the rear doors. Just do a bit of googling and you will see it is a common issue with the BMW BCM modules. There around £200 for a new one then it would need to be coded to your car using a faultmate or equiveliant or a visit to a garage.
