My dealer told me he'd gladly take something like €460 for a remote - and he had no idea if it would work! This was all right after I bought the car. I now know much more than the dealer .

D'ya know, Joanne, you really shouldn't be explaining about warm bums on a board such as this where you're the only female... Otherwise nasty like me will ask for a pic!

To close this off it seems as if the whole remote was faulty. It didnt pair with Avi's car, yet Avi's remote pairs fine with my car.

Good to know. So the people at Webasto have correct info too. I hope you paid via Paypal - that way you can just open a dispute and let the seller worry about the rest. With any luck, he might not even worry about trying to get a defective remote back and leave you the LR T80/90 housing to transplant working, generic electrics into.

I've just been outside. My car is 400m away in the carpark. I managed to get it to turn on at 317m, through a few small buildings. Impressive Range!

Shame i still can;t do it from my desk though !

Just re-programmed remote bought from eBay (New for £20).
Easy to set up.....only confusion.... it was the Rear fuse box fuse that had to be pulled not the FBH fuse in the main front fuse box..... it is Fuse 16 (5Amp) labled as Remote control receiver fuse that had to be pulled for 5 seconds.
This is on a 2007 RR Vogue

The cheapest option is to get an old mobile and the 12v charger for it and start playing with the wiring.

The biggest issue is getting a simcard that wont expire as only a few companies do them

Simply put you would take the spear out of the mobile and run a pair of wires from it to the output of the remote box so that when the phone was called it would bridge the connection when ringing and activate the FBH (its a simple activation of earthing/shorting the connection IIRC) adn then use the rear accessory socket to supply power to the mobile as well while its on charge.

For me i would use an old nokia 6310/i as they have very good long standby times and extended batteries can be bought for them as well so would reduce the drain on your FF battery as well a little, then get a 12v charger and take it to bits and wire it in to take 12v and connect it up to the phone. Then use velcra pads or straps to strap the phone in.

As long as the mobile has signal your all good

If it struggled to activate off the phone speaker then the vibration motor might be another option.
It may not look as pretty as a dedicated GSM board setup but would be a decent amount cheaper, you'd get to play about with old kit for a bit and it would all be hidden away anyway so if for example you come back from holiday and the temp is very cool, as soon as the plane lands you could text or call the car mobile and arrive to a car thats nice and warm. I think I'm right in thinking that if you wired this in parallel with the FBH remote receiver, you would be able to text the number of minutes you want the relay to remain open for, which would be the length of time the FBH would run for

I think the controller just receives an activation command which then runs it for a preset time regardless of what you ask it for or until the battery voltage drops below a preset threshold.

I think the delay can work ok on the Discos and SSRR's but only the ones without the function already there for remote use of the FBH as its primary roll in those vehicles is quicker warm up and only lately has become a park heat feature. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

prohunter, you can connect the WBUS output of your GSM unit up to the WBUS wire which is available at the T90 remote receiver. Not 100% certain on the colour of the WBUS wire there but it may be White with a Green stripe. Which dialler system have you got?
