How to Open Fuel Filler Neck on Diesel L405?

Trying to open the fuel filler neck, this is the actual bit you put the fuel nozzle into when at a service station.

Neck opens fine when you use the diesel pump, but won't open when you use anything else (petrol pump). This is as we know designed to prevent people putting petrol into a diesel.

All well and good, but if I plan to take long trips and want to fill diesel in using a jerry can, how on earth do I open the fuel filler neck to get some of the smelly stuff in?

Ive tried going down to supercheap (our equivalent of Halfords/Halfrauds) and all the nozzles that came with their diesel jerry cans wouldn't do a thing for me

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

I think the problem here is that in Europe it is technically "illegal "to carry fuel in anything other than one of those Censored little 5L plastic cans in your car so the 405 and indeed all other cars are designed to that standard . I envisage some sort of bodge coming to make it work Laughing 2008 MY Supercharged

Plus I guess in Europe/UK you're never that far from a petrol station, so they wouldn't really need Jerry cans there Smile

Bodge come soon, no use planning long trips if I won't have the diesel to keep me going 2015 SDV8 Autobiography - Black, Cirrus, 22" Style 707 Wheels

Your car should have come with a plastic tube about 5 inches long and an inch in diameter, specifically for this purpose. It has to be exactly the right size. Speak to you stealer, might be worth looking in the glove box or by the spare wheel. letters not necessarily in the right order
