I assume that is one of those super secure keyless entry ffrr's.... cos there's no way you'd get an early one running without the key..... did you notice the wing folding up as the patrol car rammed it Shocked along with the rear end damage, reckon that's a potential write-off Whistle there is such a thing as too many whistles and bells... I'll stick with the removable anti theft device that's fitted to mine... a key Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

But, nope. Video says Seattle. NAS didn't get the rotary dial until the L405 came along. The dial was only on the TDV8 and we never got that one.

Yes.

Remember, the L322 SC never got the 8 speed, only the 6. Same story with the NA petrol V8.

No 8 speeds, no diesels until the L405.

JLR are finally offering the V6 diesel in the L405 and L495 this year. (With perfect timing now that VW has made everyone hate diesels.) The last diesel they sold here previously was under the British Leyland banner, around 1974.

We did get the rotary knob thingy in Jaguars, if that counts.

So much for the petrol vs diesel debate. Here is was more of a petrol vs walk debate and ended rather quickly. Mr. Green

Land Rover should be offering both diesel engines over there.... that's were the engines came from, or were at least developed Rolling Eyes Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Laughing Agreed.

Even with the 15 year rule, you wouldn't believe what you can get for a diesel Land Rover here. 300 tdi Disco about 3x the price of an otherwise identical D1 V8. Seen one each of a P38 DSE and a Disco2 td5. Prices on both are pretty much, "if you have to ask..."

In other words, it would pay for quiet a lot of petrol for a V8! (Although possibly not the head gaskets, etc, that I try NOT to think about Big Cry )

The L322 is still "too new", but I guess we'll see Whistle

Shocked So are you saying that North America is going to become a hot bed of Diesel Range Rover imports in a couple of years..... and it's going to over inflate the price.... a bit like the Middle East and Africa have done for the Landcruiser ?

Might have to pop across the Channel and cop hold of a French leftie... could be quids in Mr. Green

Diesel hotbed - ?? I don't know. While the Defender & diesel market is crazy, it's also VERY small.

I was at the Vancouver Auto Dhow a few weeks ago. There was a company there that was importing exUK Defenders. All >15 yrs. Mostly tdi, but you could pick a V8, or td5 if you wanted. All new panels and interior, so the cars looked brand new. (2000 brand new, not 2o16 brand new.) No new chassis, no galvanizing. Prices started at about £45K for a 90 and climbed very quickly. Shocked

A leftie? Who knows? It might work. What would go against it would be the cost of the car vs the amount of petrol you could buy. I'll bet my cost per mile (V8 petrol) is probably very competitive with the cost/mile for a diesel in the UK.

No, Canada is different from the States. Yes, our cars are ALMOST identical, and the rules are pretty good for cross importing a USA/Canada spec car across the boarder. With people moving, it happens all the time. For non-NAS car, our rule is the car must be at least 15 years old (from date of manufacture). Of course, there's a lot of small print, but that's the jist of it. It usually needs to have the safety stuff required of a Canadian car of the same model year (I.e. It better have seatbelts if it was made after the 6os!) Provincially, any 'out of province' car will need a 'safety inspection' (think MOT). That rather annoyed my Dad who had to get one for a BRAND new car he bought in Ontario before moving the BC. (Car was 2 months old and the inspection, while pricey, was extremely quick! Mr. Green )

They were telling me the cars were “in a class of their own” and a “struggle” for the authorities to legislate apparently???
