Out with the new, in with the old. My first RR

Well after deciding a few weeks back I was going to swap my Defender for something more comfortable and more importantly something petrol I got to looking for suitable Disco3 or FFRR. I had a hard budget of 10k and really wanted something under 10years with a full service history and under 100k miles. Then the task got harder after the boss ruled out a Disco after looking closely at pictures of both vehicles and spotting a few around.

So it looks like this week I hit the jackpot, a lovely Vogue SE from September 2006 with only 78k. A stack of Service invoices from LR for the first few years, and an independent later on. All the MOTs in the bundle, one owner from new, the stereotypical "careful Lady" according to the dealer and given the condition of the vehicle and the work done I have to say she has been very careful indeed. I have been all over the car and everything works as it should with one exception, the venturecam doesn't stay stowed so won't charge, I have jammed it in with a bit of paper to see if it charges or I may need to do a bit of DIY on the battery pack.

Car ran just fine on it's trip back from Cheshire to Gloucestershire so here's hoping I have a few years of happy FFRR ownership ahead.

Tomorrow I will mainly be preparing the defender for sale....

I just sold my Defender for similar reasons, it took a whopping 24 hrs to sell!

I'm on the hunt for an early D3 to use as my shooting brake. Seen a few but there's lots of nails out there

Good luck with the RR, you'll wonder how on earth you ever put up with a Defender! Discovery 4 HSE

Nice FF and nice Defender. Love my old slow and noisy Defender but aim is to keep that as my shooting vehicle and get a V8 FF for the everyday use.

Defender prices have gone up a lot over the last year or so, I'm looking to trade our old defender in as well and move up to a RR, strangely makes better financial sense than a newer defender...

Funnily enough I was going the other way. Was getting a bit fed up of the problems I was causing with the RR trying to use it as a Defender.

Solved that by keeping both. Still love driving the 110 though, its noisy and rough but never fails to put a smile on my face. I'm younger and under 6ft so... Ed
