The Service indicator doesn't work on our 2006 tdv8 - ie no warning of miles to the next service.

I can see the distance using an IID tool (approx 12,000) , but can't find any option on the IID menus to enable / disable the indicator from the message centre.
I've Googled the issue, but no obvious answers come up - unless I'm misunderstanding what the option might be called.
Before servicing the car late last year - after purchasing it with what appeared to be an overdue service requirement, there was also no apparent service indication ( although I didn't use the IID tool at the time to check the mileage to the next service (didn't know how at the time - lol)

Any suggestions how to turn it on ? Paul,

No responses so far & no luck via Mr Google !

Via my IID tool I've finally found under "Live Values" > Instrument Pack that if I try to view the Service Indicator I get the message "Service Indicator Inactive" suggesting there ought to be some way of making it "Active" !
I've tried all of the IID tool menus - but nothing relevant found .

Does the extra info, remind anyone how they've made the Service Indicator "active" or "inactive" or can point me in the right direction ? Paul,

Not sure mine ever told me how long until the service except just before it was due. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'm assuming that "Service Indicator Inactive" means that it won't warn me - even when due.
Certainly I got no warning when I originally bought it & the previous owner appeared not to have had it serviced for more than 18 months. Paul,

Do an oil service every 12 months whatever and you'll be safe , fuel filter's a good idea too and for the price of an air filter bung a new one in , it'll pay off in the long run .
