Hello everyone

What do you think about £321.60 for a Sat Nav update on a 2011 L322?!!!

Yes, I was a little surprised too when I asked at the dealer today. Apparently for around 18 months LR and NavTeq experimented with a hard drive system on L322. The dealer told me today that they would buy the license from NavTeq and then it takes 2 hours to be plugged in to the computer to update.

He suggested that I get a TomTom!

I was keen to have it done as I found a lot of missing roads that have been built in the last few years when I was traveling around Europe. I think I will wait a while or use my iphone maps!

Any ideas/suggestions or pirates out there?!!

unfortunately its a dealer job and there isnt an alternative way of uploading newer maps onto the HDD of these FF's..

it would be very interesting to find out how its done and if a dvd iso could be adapted for the upload as there are illegal pirated 2014 discs about..

i was lucky to get an upgraded map when i bought my westie but even then its only a 2014 dated map.. ... - .- -.

My sat nav DVD reader is playing up, so I went for a new Garmin unit that blows the old RR system out of the water in terms of features and updates. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Try another dealer. The update I had done three weeks ago was £228 all up at Guy Salmon (Sytner Group) , Aylesford near Maidstone...2012 L322.

The latest available.......third quarter of 2014. Not entirely impressed if I am honest. I realise that unlike TomTom/Garmin who update yearly, LR probably only buy every other year or so.

Kicking myself for assuming and not asking and disappointed it wasn't pointed out.

Still, on the bright side, better than the 2011 maps that it did have......

I just got emailed the latest 2015 maps for the Android head unit FOC, and not just Europe, if I go to the States or Australia with the FF I'm sorted.....

Also came with the latest software but I don't like it so I'm still using the old one that is superb anyway.... Pete

Google maps (or Waze which is a slightly posher version) is global and free. Been on a smartphone near you for over 5 years.

agreed that there are loads of aftermarket nav options some free and some paid for but it would be nice to be able to upgrade the FF nav to keep a clean 'integrated' navigation system.. ... - .- -.

Onboard navigation is dying Stan. Pete's on the money with Android head units etc. It's already getting to the stage where you can run smartphone apps on the HU.

maybe, luckily most dont use the nav very much and if they do then they have alternatives [like yourself]

if there was some way to visually link an aftermarket nav to the main screen then we will all be happy.. ... - .- -.

I have a 2010 model. Is this a disc based system and if so where is it located or am I being daft and it's all hard drive driven?
