United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I bought my Rrover for its silky smooth ride and wisper quiet petrol engine unlike the diesel which sounds like an old bus. What I cannot understand is why you need such large engines when emmisions regulations need the opposite .Why when you need 300hp do you need a 4 and a half litre engine, yes you can stick a turbo on a smaller one but most new 1000cc motorbikes are at almost 170hp,Yes they are very different but surely some adaption of a smaller engine that is far better tuned with turbo of preferably supercharger with a 2 litre engine could produce above 300hp with low emmisions and more than 20mpg !

Canada 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Java Black

A peppy little sports car can get by with a small, powerful and revy engine. Those engines don't usually make much power until the revs build. I don't think an average FFRR driver want to use launch control at 7500 rpm each time he needs to accelerate.

Remember the old Series 1 Discovery with the Rover 4 cylinder engine (the MPI)? It promised the fuel economy of the TDI and the performance of the V8. In reality, it needed to be thrashed to make any progress at all and that resulted in the performance of the TDI with the economy of the V8.
