Had noticed that the car had seemed slow to raise and lower recently, and i got an Suspension fault reading the other day, so I have just been out to investigate further.

Pump - Check, seems to be running and filling ok and building pressure.

dropped the car down to access - no problem

raised to normal - no problem once pressure had built in the tank.

went for high - whooooosh, front driver side airbag has a hole in it. not a big one mind, can put my finger over it, no bigger than a pin hole really.

strange because when it seemed that it was slow to raise and lower the front seemed to be going up and down OK it was the back which was slow. Anyway fronts diagnosed as FUBAR so off to the dealer I think for a new one or Pair as surely you should change them in pairs......

It seems to hold normal height ok so will be good to drive for a while, but I might ring LR assist and see if they can get it in quicker than me.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

That's not good.... should change in pairs as the shock is in with them.....

Warranteeeeeee..

Hopefully anyway, is a proper LR AUC warranty so should cover the whole car. I wonder if LR assist will let me drive round with a hole in the spring. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Warranty will almost certainly only cover the one with the hole.

If you want to preventatively maintain the other side, then that would be down to you..... unless you're very lucky.

understand that on the rears where the shocks are separate, a spring is a spring, but on the fronts where it is certainly best practice to swap pairs of shocks then they may take a view on it. Heres hoping. in any case that side needs sorting. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had the same on my 2003. My research showed that the performance drop-off of gas dampers is minimal (unless they leak and fail), so just changed one strut. Even on heavy braking there's no issue - no pulling to one side etc. YMMV of course.

Yeah, I should think at 4 years old it won't make much difference but when I changed my rears last year there was a massive difference between new and old (both genuine)  Pete

Just a bit of a PITA rather than a problem, I know it will be a free fix just don't want to make the problem worse by driving the car too much and was planning to do a fair few miles this weekend.

anyhooo i will get it in asap for a new strut, thought at first the compressor was duff but that seems fine and is humming along nicely and when it cuts out you can hear a little puff of air as it sets the pressure in the tank (or at least thats what i think its doing.

I have cheekily emailed the workshop manager rather than the front of house staff to tee him up for the job, he knows his stuff normally and has been helpful in the past. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

glad its likely to be a warranty as LR direct want £730 for a strut as they are adaptive damping ones...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

spent some love and affection on it. Now has a dateless pate and I have put the 19" with the LTZs back on today along with a nice wash and polish. So it should be feeling the love and hopefully keep working for at least a week....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Well having dropped it off on Monday as it was convenient for me I have just got it back.

All mended, new Drivers side air Spring fitted wouldn't do the pair which is fair enough as there really wasn't anything wrong with the other, drives perfectly fine in any case.

Suspension now goes up and down properly all sorted under LR AUC warranty no questions or problems. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
