Thanks Alistair.

It's like a lottery isn't it. Oddly looking forward to finding out what it is now. That sensation won't last long I'm sure!

There is a turbo blend valve type thingamy which has been known to fail. There is an updated part.

I think that the problem is that the secondary turbo is rarely used on some cars so the valve which activates it does not come into play too often and sticks.

I will try and find the thread. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

True enough, though I thought there may be a few 3.6s out there on 11 plates..... In any case the link to the thread above describes one possibility Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I posted a thread called 4.4tdv8 restricted performance some time ago, which describes exactly the same symptoms.
I have got a copy of the service bulletin if required.
How do I add a link to the post?

I think I've got a link to it above Baltic thanks.

I'll speak to the Indy this morning and get her in. Shame though, as she's been faultless in the 9 months I've owned her.

Given your sign in, can you remember what in November 1987?

Thanks mate.

Get the 4 short turbo inlet hoses checked at the same time.
One had split on mine.
Sorry don't understand the question re November 1987 ?

Apologies, I missed the word happened out of my sentence.

I took it you were a city fan given your sign in. If you are I'm sure the clue "triple hatrick" shall give it away!

If not, I'm looking a bit daft!

Sorry, far too cryptic for my simple brain.
Baltic blue is the colour of my car.

Doh, clearly I know more about football than full fats.

Anyhow, Indy thinks it's EGR Valve, if I've remembered it correctly.

Just to update, it's believed to be a split hose, one of the 4 hoses which run in an around the turbo. I'm having all four replaced whilst they're under the bonnet, £240 + VAT.

Thanks for all the responses, a cracking forum this one Thumbs Up

Hi Terrier.... Can I make a further suggestion to save further cash and worry down the road?... I too have a my11 4.4tdv8. I had split hoses and had them replaced. I also had DPF failure due to the crud and oil based around the same problem. However, having sorted all that back in January, the car was a little hesitant, not knowing whether to go up a gear or down when you wanted or needed to plant your foot.... Well, that's how it felt.
....get to the point. At the beginning of July it finally went into performance reduction mode and just as I was taking it to the garage the engine management light also came on 😱. Well, I thought it was turbo issues! Wrong! It was part of the original split hose problem! They had cleaned and replaced parts backward from the problem, but not forward of it! Now, I'm not sure which sensor it was, but in the inlet manifold you have some sensors. Mine were covered in crud and this had not been previously checked. The sensor(s) didn't know how much fuel to put in so being gunked up, misread pressures/fuel required etc (ask an expert here.... Not my thing really). Now, as it's been cleaned out properly, my L322 drives like a dream! Would be worth getting them to check any sensors around this area are re cleaned too. Thumbs Up
