Handbrake Module - Save me from the £1,800 that they want

MOT Failure because the handbrake works perfectly but it gives an over heating warning message.

There is no over heating and no issue but with the warning there is also no MOT

Suggestions, remedies etc?

The recommended action is a new handbrake module for £755 which fitted comes to £1,800.

PLEASE- Suggestions, remedies etc?

How do you know there is no over heating? (this will be in the handbrake module which is tucked away in the rear subframe)

Not heard of this issue before, but it does seem the only thing to do is to get the handbrake module out (a right PITA by the looks of things) get it overhauled, and try it again

Do you have a copy of the manual for 2007 model (see wiki) then you can assess the work required. .

Okay - I am going to have a quick look around and see what stuff looks like. Disconnect electrical connections, clean and refit, try and lube the cables to the wheels etc. Nothing major because I can find nothing on Google ab out this issue other than 'replace the unit'.

I am down in Southampton, so close to Winchester. Joe - you may get a plea for help if this all goes wrong!!

Cheers

Would something as simple as reading fault codes be a start? Perhaps clearing them and seeing if that solves the warnings?

Well I have had a poke around and cannot see anything obvious. I have also just dropped my phone while using it as a torch . Not only did the screen crack, it landed on my face first and has given me a split lip!

So having discovered I can't fix it by swearing and breaking a 2 month old Galaxy S9 phone, bloodied and cold I am going to call it a day.

Please recommend a RR specialist near Southampton. I will default to Brooklyn 4x4 as they are closest but I wouldn't mind talking to some others to see what they say.

Names and numbers please.

I bought a secindhand one from a specialist RR breaker in Latvia and had it checked out before fitting so it was a quick swap over to save down time. 2015 4.4 AB
