Broke The 20 mpg mark

Ok maybe, maybe not but I'm turning a blind eye and calling the consumption computer correct at 20.1 mpg U.S.. This was over a 300 mile trip. I can also manage 16 mpg in country/suburban roads. So much more reasonable than what the EPA stats say. Not bad for a 5400 lb urban tank.

I got 32mpg out of the L405 4.4 SDV8 on a long run (5 up with a boot full of stuff). I was more than keeping up with the flow on the motorway too. Rather amazed me.

32 mpg imperial in diesel? Thats about 27 mpg US. Wouldn't mind having a diesel here. IIRC we are just starting to get diesel RR. Premium petrol and diesel cost about the same.

i've got the BMW 4.4 petrol engine. If i reset the trip meter and do a constant 65mph i can get it to read 25mpg without any problem. Average for town driving is about 16mpg i think.

If you focus on constant peddle position instead of speedometer position mileage will improve. Accelerate down hill and coast up hill as much as possible.

yeah, when i did the steady 65 i just set the cruise, so the car does it it's self.

I think 25mpg (imp) is about as good as it's going to get, but i didn't really buy it for economy, i could have kept my Diesel Jaguar for that (60mpg)

I agree I didn't buy it for the MPGs but I find it Interesting to see just what it can do. I was going to go the Jeep Commander route at first. But after talking to owners real world gss mileage and repair costs were the same as the RR and not as good looking.

I reset mine the other week and after a 60 mile round trip it showed 20.1mpg.

It's gone back down now but I didn't realise the first character could even go to a 2! Dan
