I managed to crack my windscreen on Monday night.

The whole insurance claim was via web site - referred to Autoglass was seamless & very easy - I paid my excess £75 and booked a fitting slot.

I was offered as early as Tuesday morning but selected Wednesday

Right at the end was a comments box - so I entered "Please ensure this is a Pilkington windscreen"

2 hours later, I got a call - they had seen my comment - that wouldn't be a problem, but may be up to 10 days to get the windscreen.....

They called me back this morning (Tuesday) and confirmed they could get one by Thursday - but I prefer Friday (as I will be at home) so they are coming to fit it then.

All seems very smooth, but I'm glad I specified which glass I wanted

Good to hear this. I've been putting off getting a replacement for fear of the older horror stories I've heard.  Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I didn't specify anything but they fitted Pilkington Acoustic anyway and did a great job.  Geoff

Had ours replaced last year by Autoglass and they fitted a Pilkington Glass screen without any requests. Made an excellent job of it as well.

I have had a couple from them in this fattie first was a problem but they did replace it second no problem they fit Pilkington as standard but you can have it embossed Land Rover but it was an extra 500 quid I kid you not so didn't have that
Just make sure they have new trims it should all come as a kit and if not make them get them and commit to fitting later but they have in my experience been very good. Its a two man lift to position the screen thats where they went wrong first time

I loaded a long plank of wood through the car and onto the dash - carefully edged up to the windscreen

It was still just out of the boot - so I had the genius idea to drop the seat and see if that would give me just enough space

So I lifted the plank with one hand - and used the neat feature in my L405 to electrically lower the rear seat

I then lowered the plank which acted as a 3m lever off the dash and put a nice big crack in the windscreen

No roof bars for the L405 without permanent rails - I think because of the glass roof

double ouch !!

we've all done that though after a b&q visit....i'll have to be extra careful on my next visit.. ... - .- -.
