2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

Gonna drive up to the SNOW !!!!!

Im gonna drive up to the Snow in Sierra Navarra. I wont be fitting winter tyres as i only get a little Rain where i am. My question is what is the difference between snow socks and chains ? what is the cross over point, and did i read in the manual you cant fit chans when running 20" ??????

I think these look funky, they are for 20" front wheels only. They look a lot easier to fit than chains. The rear doesnt need them I presume?

EDIT: Although having just seen the price around £450-£500 you'd be better off buying a full set of winter tyres!

God there cheap !!!!

Thing is as i live here in spain i dont want full blown winter tyres !!!

What do you guys recomend for summer tyres ??????????????????

Ill get them from the UK !!!

I asked my dealer if i could fit chains to my 20's and he sad yes you could.And apparently you need to fit chains to all four wheels. As if you have a 2 wheel drive vehicle then two would be fine. Hence the term 4 X 4..... you need 4!

Anyone know of any internet suppliers who can still make deliveries of any winter tyres at all (or just M+S)?

I ordered all season tyres that meet the snowflake symbol for the germal winter tyres rules last Friday, they are coming this Friday.
But they are for our Skoda, the FFRR is fine on standard rubber in this part of the UK.

It's the size that's the problem.
But at that price it's tempting to order some for the future...

Socks are more of a quick fix/temporary measure, designed to fit quicher than chains and to be lighter/more compact. They do however wear in time apparently, so not as robust as conventional chains.

A friend of mine has them for his car though and swears by them.
