I think you'll find that it is required for the MOT, unless you've found a blind tester.. If you want it De-catted then the only trouble free way that I know is remove it and either brake out the innards with a long screwdriver / chisel, or cut open the top (not seen part |

I managed to find the company on e-bay who were doing the Td6 de-cat pipes, they also do quite a few for BMWs. I messaged them but they never came back to me.
