Well that was a c**t of a day | |
So, expecting a nice quiet Sunday, weather predicted to be good, beers in the fridge. What could possibly go wrong?
Datacentre migration, all well planned, no need for me to be on the call, just available if needed. Huh, the phone rang at 8:45am, can you join the migration call please.
So, make a brew, sit down at the PC and the phone rings again. Mother-in-Law has been taken to hospital with suspected pneumonia. Wife goes to the hospital, I stay at my PC and join the call. Everything going to rat s.h1t.
11.00 some friends turn up. We're having their dog while they go on holiday and Mal has lent me his bike to take SWMBO out. Lovely people but I'd clean forgotten they were coming in all the ruckus.
SWMBO arrives home, pneumonia confirmed but on nuclear grade antibiotics, a fluid drip and having bed rest. Looks like she is on the mend. Good news.
So then SWMBO asks if I would take her out on Mal's bike. Yeah, I can't find my leathers.....so I end up squeezing into Mal's. He's 4" shorter than me, 2" smaller waist and a 4" smaller chest. Damn that's tight. Anyway, took her out and left her with a smile.....although it then took a herculean effort to get me out of those leathers. Oh and a CBR600 is way too small for me.
Back to my PC, lunch arrived at my desk, then dinner, then supper. I finally got off that call at 02:00 this morning. 17 hours on a call trying to herd cats.
And now the joys a root cause analysis call.
At least the FFRR didn't break down
