2 per day now, calls claiming I've had a non fault accident.

Im starting to wonder if I had one, got a brain injury and have forgotten about it!! Seriously, I know it's cold calling and completely random but obviously my name is on a database somewhere and I have no control over the incoming calls.

Im thinking of changing my number it's me off that much!!

Most of it is to the mobile, so it's receive a call block it, rcieve andother block it.....etc.

Is it just me or is this scourge getting worse. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's getting worse.

I work in IT & they have got my work number - the favourite at the moment is 'we see you recently downloaded a document about.....' - which I haven't so I just ask them to remove me from their database and never call me again, then put the phone down. Thew calls keep coming though

If you have the time it can be most amusing to wind them up, not that I would ever do such a thing as waste their precious time

I am led to believe you then get marked as a timewaster on their database. My call level certainly seems to have diminished.

I might just start asking them to hold on for a moment then - and leave them there

Maybe I am assuming incorrectly but I stopped giving my mobile number out whenever, for example, ordering online or anywhere for that matter.

I registered the home phone with the preference service and added a cheap call blocker inline and touch wood, I very rarely get calls of this type at all even though it is this number I give if I have no option but to supply one.

I use an app called truecaller, works most of the time but some still get through. If so you can block it and it can block text messages too. If a number isn't in you're blocked list, whilst it is ringing it will search the database and will show who it is, or most of time will say spam or what ever someone on the database has put a name against that number.

Have a read up before installing because it as to have access to you're contacts.

Android does that anyway from version 6 upwards.

I seem to be getting a lot of accident ones along with PPI ones.

Like some above, and off around, i give the phone to my 8 year to have a nice chat with them... they soon hang up  Ash

Just had a call from a lady who said her name was Susan. Judging by her accent I doubt that was the name her mother knows her by.

As I was doing very little I listened to her endless spiel. It seemed I was paying £7 a month by direct debit for a service contract on my television. I did not remember any such arrangement but decided not to disillusion her. She explained how she could offer me a much better service for only £5 a month. She spent a lot of time telling me all about the quality of service that this contract offered and asked me to write down her name and extension number ( but offered no phone number!) Eventually she said I just needed to call my bank to cancel the existing direct debit and she would set up the new one straight away.

So we get to the crunch. Who did I bank with? I said I couldn't remember. She was not happy after spending so much time telling what was on offer. So sadly "Susan" hung up on me. Not her day.

My son got a cold call from a salesman selling conservatories to which my son expressed an interest in buying. He led the salesman on for about 20minutes after which time the salesman asked if he could visit my sons abode to measure up and provide a quotation. At this point my son felt he should explain he lived in a first floor flat and could the salesman confirm he could supply a suitable conservatory. A short silence followed after which the salesman told my son to off and put the phone down. Some people just aren't up to a challenge.
