I seem to have abit of brake judder so I bought a Brembo dti gauge
And had a go with the discs.

Have you had the discs off and checked that the discs and the hub are clean.

Also what is the swing in the other direction on the gauge. If that's the max needle in one direction what is the movement the other way? Doesn't seem much but tbh I don't know how much it should be as a Max. but someone will! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When I found the lowest spot in the disc I zeroed the gauge so 0.05mm on one side and 0.04mm on the other is the max runout. Just wondering at what point a judder is felt.

I imagine it must be impossible to have a zero runout with all the different
Parts bolted together. I know Land Rover measure it from the back somehow with the wheel attached
Because that's the best way to do it but I made sure I put some of the wheel nuts back on to locate the disc.

Yes I did have the discs off and the hubs where clean so just recleaned and fitted them back. I haven't got a problem replacing the discs and pads but only if it cures the judder.

Next thing I suppose is wheel balance but I get no wobble when driving only when the brakes are applied so I went straight for the discs first.

Not so much run out that causes judder, rather thickness. If you have .05 one side of the disc and .04 the other, in the same position on the disc, then you have the disc almost 1mm thicker at one point and that will certainly cause judder.

It looks like there is enough lip on the disks to justify recutin them. if you do, make sure they cut the inside of the hub to, so that you end up with the disks that have all three sides perfectly parallel to each other. clean all the mating surfaces really well before putting everything back together. this has cured my vibration.

Rodp the difference between 0.04mm and 0.05mm is not 1 mm but 0.01 of a mm
Or one hundreth of a mm Unless I’m missing something I could be mistaken.

Nino any idea how much it costs to recut the discs?

Steve, promise not to laugh, old machinist in my neighbourhood cut two front disks for 30 KM (13 pounds total) and you can watch him work and have pint of lager to. . so if you can find old machine shop it should not cost you arm and the leg. it is about one hour of work.
