You'll have to excuse me as I have no knowledge of CTEK chargers! How does it work if it's plugged into the car?
Does that not mean it's using battery power?

The CTEK charger plugs into the mains (240v AC) like any other battery charger , and by connecting it to the towing socket it keeps the car battery fully charged without the need to run the engine. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

The iid does check the battery voltage before making any changes, But best to have a decent charger connected and a well charged battery in the first place. I have one that supplies 25A constantly.

Just another quick question please, trying to get proficient with the IID tool.
I've tried again to do something simple that I can physically see has changed. I turned the DRL on and it has worked, so I now know I'm doing things right! But the message came up after all the turning on and off of the ignition, that the upload had failed, then it wanted me to continue, which I did.

Why would it say it has failed when it has actually updated the configuration?

Secondly, the faults that I have are all lost communication issues, so believe them to be pretty routine things, but where can I find the list to decode them?

Well I sent a message to Patrick at Gap, he replied very quickly and told me that my problem with the upload failed message is a known bug and they will fix it as soon as they can. Files are still written correctly which is the main thing.

So today I have sorted my tow bar bits out changed it to 13 pin etc
Added the digital speedo
Turned the DRL on
Activated the reverse lamps to come on as follow you home lights
Activated the handbrake to come on when you turn the ignition off

Just need to reconfigure all the wheel and tyre settings as the car was originally on 19's and now on 20's
Has anyone done this yet?
