Spain 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver
Should i or shouldnt i ?

hmmmmm what do you think ?

My car has had the top of the drivers door painted by someone with limited eyesite at some point in its life. Also the rear passenger door has been painted. To find one out here in spain that has not had paint is not gonna happen.!!!!!

I scraped the rear bumper not so long back so i went all over spain looking for a GOOD bodyshop. Didnt find one.

I was going to bring the car to the UK and get it wrapped for 1800 + VAT not the best price but i had a couple of cars done by them and they do a v good job.

On my way home from Golf last night i saw a sighn for a painters so off i went to have a look. When i got there his yard was FULL of top end stuff and he was painting a ML in the booth. (there are not many with a booth over here !)

I asked him to look at the RR for me, he said for the door etc 480 euros !!! WOW i asked him for the whole car ...... €1200 WOW i asked him if i could look at his past jobs in the yard, you could not tell one bit !!!!

Should i get the whole car done ?????? What do you guys think ? 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE

depends what colour it is, black and dark colours usually match up well if done by a professional. Lighter colours such as silver and some greens are impossible to match.

It all depends on the colour of your car - if its black or dark blue I would chance just painting the required panels (i have previously done so and got away with it). On other cars the whole side has had to be done - less bonnet and tailgates.

I would keep spray work to an absolute minimum - its only more for somebody to pick fault with at a later date - plus the more panels the more risk of overspray and paint lines which destroy value.

Most cars have had a panel or two painted - even brand new, a total respray sets alarm bells ringing and I would walk away from any purchase where this is evident.

agree with vogue, just get the bits that need doing. As cars get older i would rather see original paint with a few stone chips, marks etc. than signs of loads of panels painted, makes me start thinking bad collision. 2004 black Vogue TD6

I know a chap near Norwich who does incredible paint jobs. The first RR I took there had hit a stag which had done the wing and passenger door in. When I picked it up it was perfect, he'd even lowered his standards to match the original finish. I then persuaded a pal to get his Lotus resprayed there and it was much better than original....

If (when) I need any painting done on any of the current motors I will take them to Mick Storey and happily pay the flights etc to get there and back. I've not seen any shops in Aberdeenshire that can get close to his quality.
