L405 - Rear screens or IPad holders??

Hi all as some are aware I am narrowing down my search for a new FFRR! I have x2 kids (under 5) and want them to be entertained on long journeys so looking at FFRR's with rear inbuilt headrest screens. What are owners thoughts on these? (I have read about the digital tv being mostly a waste of time unless parked) so interested in how well they work / stream from USB etc, also can you control this from the front passenger side or does this need to be done whilst in the back?? Other option is iPad route, with his option does anyone have any recommendations about semi permanent holders for iPad mini's?? As would want something that fits the headrest in a FFRR without looking terrible (some of the one online look a compete dogs dinner!) any help greatly appreciated Shocked

Mine like the rear screens in mine.

Would be my preferred choice if I was looking for an L405.

What do you guys do with yours, do you have external hard disks etc? And can you control from the front seats what is happening in the back? Also keen to hear about the ipad options cheers

I put DVD's on and control them from the front. I do believe with my set up that I can play films through an iPad on the rear screens in the future as they get a bit older etc... Alex

I had them fitted to mine. Great.
My children are 18, 16 and 14. They still enjoy the screens. I fitted rear screens myself in my last two cars but they are not as good as these. The TV they have found reasonably good. They like the sat nav view and listening to different music. The head phones are also great. These are all my views.
You can tell a journey has been successful as you don't here anything from the back. Thumbs Up

My kids are a bit older now so didn't spec on the L405 I have now so can't comment on them, but I retro fitted rear seat entertainment into my old l322, think it was a Rosien system. Significantly cheaper than a LR system (£600 fitted I think) and it worked brilliantly. Separate dvd's on each screen, controllable by remote. Just an alternative suggestion.

I have RSE in my 2014.
Plus points. No charging issues. No messy cables. No tacky looking brackets on the seats. Easy to control from the front.
Minus points. IPAD is more versatile. Better screen resolution on IPAD. RSE has one DVD slot, not 6 like in L322 or a stack of memory to store films like the IPAD.

On balance I prefer RSE. It's all bolted in and nothing gets left behind anywhere. I can control it from the front so don't have to stop every time something doesn't work properly. SUre, it's not cheap as an option, but that is only an issue if you're buying new. They add no value at all to secondhand. Whereas, a pair of IPADs with all the gubbins is never free, especially when one slides out of the back door 'cos it's been left on the floor.

In reality I have both anyway. SWMBO has her IPAD Pro paving slab and we also take an IPAD mini.

Oh, and the other thing I get regularly with IPADs, "Why the hell does a car this expensive not have Wi-Fi?"
