I have a Icarsoft LR11 which I originally brought for my Freelander, seems to do all basic thigs you need for a L322 including reseting service indicator and looking at live values.
I agree if I had to do more an IDD would be better but the Icarsoft isn't locked to a car so more useful to me

I use Icarsoft LRII not found anything it cannot do yet and it covers LR and Jaguar (Had a Jag XF at the time). just updated it recently and customer support has been good. cannot comment on GAP IID never used it.

One big difference with the IID is being able to program modules. For example I applied the BAS EGR blanking patch myself using my IID. And on my D3 I updated the suspension ECU, required when you update to the later compressor design. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

All such tools have basic OBD standard supported tools. What gets added when you go up and through the range (and price levels) is typically;

* Ability to read manufacturers specific error codes
* Ability to do basic maintenance tasks such as reset service, abs etc
* Ability to do more specialised things like TPMS or Air Suspension
* Ability to program modules
* Ability to read security systems
* Ability to program security systems
* Ability to reprogram odo meters
* Ability to program anything

A tool like IID is so popular and useful as it creates a nice user interface with the codes for the various configurable items. And does that at a decent price point.

There are other tools that can do that but cover multiple vehicles and can be at least four times as expensive.

'good to know i assume IcarSoft you cannot do that then?'

Certainly the i930 can't. It is essentially a manufacturer specific code reader / clearer with the capability to display live values. It's very good for the price. The v2 had some additional functionality but doesn't rival the IID.

The IID as well as programming ECUs can also modify the car configuration file or CCF. This allows you to unlock features from higher spec models or modify the behaviour of functions that would normally required a dealer visit.

Of course it depends whether or not these features are important to you which tool you should buy. The icarsoft tools are very good for the price. The IID is all you will ever need. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

i know i can re-set service with it as already done that Smile
i might just wait till i get something it cannot do before i upgrade

I hope not, though to be honest I’ve only ever been charged customs fees on one or two items in years of ordering, so I’m probably due one Big Cry

You were right mate, I got clobbered with a ~€70 customs charge and a €15 handling fee from UPS, bah! Sad

Took two days to get from Canada to Barcelona, then another 2 days to get from Barcelona to Mataro, 30km's up the coast Rolling with laughter
