What was the deal you got please - I am interested to hear how hard they are incentivising MY17 sales as we stare MY18 in the face.

For a "Walk in off the street" enquiry, there's £2,500 to be had from LR (if you take their finance - even if you pay it all off the day after delivery), an additional £2,500 matched funding from the dealer and (in the very best cases) about an extra £2,000 from the dealer.

You can bet that LR will hit us with a cost increase and/or move standard features to the options list for the MY18 cars when they're launched.

Having seen, what I imagine is, the MY18 interface in the Velar a few months ago, it's nice to look but I wouldn't pay thousands more for it.

United Kingdom 2018 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

My March 17 plate Vogue SE as shown with pano sliding roof, fog lights and 5k mileage cost £72.5 k with foc next service. I was wondering whether to buy new. Like for like the new cost would have been £85k before finance discount and maybe further discount...
Maybe the pre owned saving is circa £7k ish. Should I have gone new but then the p/ex value of my RRS would have dropped further by the eta of the new car. And then I'd maybe into a set of tyres by then!
Swings and roundabouts!...

Absolutely, no right answer.

Back in "the good old days" of 2015, when I bought my last new LR, the dealer never mentioned the loss of value on the trade in whilst waiting - they simply honoured the price quoted; they certainly don't now!

Back in 2015 there wasn't the finance support or the dealer discounts so they had much more wiggle room to soak up the p/ex reduced value. Secondhand car values were stronger and stock availability was tighter so less inclination to discount.
Current situation dictates much less margin all round so deals are structured differently to then. Overall it's cheaper to buy now but then it always is when your'e a long way into a model cycle.

Found out, just in time, that there are no roof bars available that will fit the RR, not unless the car's previously been fitted with roof rails! Shocked

Just managed to add those to the spec yesterday (last spec amend date today!). I'd have been in so much poo when "she" found out that we couldn't fit a roof box for holidays! (Lots and lots and lots of poo, especially when there's less space inside Shocked Rolling Eyes )

Sorted now, but a close one! Thumbs Up

Being Aintree Green, it should look like this (hardly ever see any of them with roof rails, let alone green ones):

(just add privacy glass, 21" diamond cut wheels, green "gills" and take away the posh radiator grille!)

Thanks!

Seems to be rare too, which makes it all the more interesting Very Happy

If that's your car, it's a nice looking example. I particularly like those wheels Thumbs Up

Yep - no after market roof bars - there are several threads on that one - I think it's because of the glass roof, but not completely sure.

I'm not a fan of the rails - and rarely need the extra space so I went with a Thule Easybase rack on the tow ball which worked well Thumbs Up

Looks lovely in Aintree, my Defender was that colour. Aintree sparkles so well in the sunlight when it's clean (so Defender didn't often sparkle.. Laughing )

I'd not seen those threads yet, it's early days for me here still! I'd be surprised if it were down to the sunroof as the design was very similar on my old Freeloader 2's and there were plenty of aftermarket roof bars to choose from there. Perhaps it might be to do with the aluminium construction as the bar clamps can have some pretty firm clamp pressure - perhaps the aluminium might dent?

I think it's probably more to do with there being very little demand. If there were the demand, the aftermarket people would be out there under cutting the ludicrously expensive Land Rover cross bar prices! I don't think LR see the RR as being a family oriented hold all like the Disco 4 was, otherwise it'd share that car's standard rear screens and roof rails. As it is, roof rails on RR's seem to be as rare as hen's teeth, so no one wants to load the roof anyway.

Those rear racks are a good idea, especially with Thule hard luggage bolted on, but I don't think Ben (see below) would be too impressed when he couldn't get in and out of the boot on a journey! Rolling Eyes

Thanks!

It's a great colour, but I'd agree that it's so weather and dirt (lack thereof) dependent. I'd have loved a Defender in it. If I'm lucky, my dealer has lent a Defender to me while my D4's been in; it's a top spec, 65 plate, 110 and I've been as happy as a pig in, erm, poo! Thumbs Up

Just as a matter of interest, as I shall never buy another brand new car, is the finance interest free from LR? If not, what's the total price a FFRR would set you back nowadays and how much would the interest be of that price?

Suppose I could go in the dealers and ask, but then I may be tempted by something in there so best stay clear. Laughing
