Soapy water and elbow grease! Kitchen Sink detergent is best.

Soapy water isn't an option I'm afraid (plus it's not very effective), we use degreasing solvents occasionally at work to apply decals to some JLR jobs. Acetone works well but as we've run out I just wondered what the options were. Reason for not affecting paint is just in case I need to use it on a vehicle. |

Back to the Acetone gents. Surprisingly I walked in to our local (5 minutes away) engineering merchants and they had gallon cans in stock, it was easy so I went with that. |

I also use acetone occasionally. But you need to be quite careful with it. It melts/dissolves platics. That includes many clear coats. I'm reluctant to use it on any clear over a metallic base. Using on a solid colour is probably ok. I've used it on my L322 wheels as was in a hurry. But made it worse. The contaminant blended with the clear coat.
