Need to get myself a "proper" phone holder. Don't like the sticky window sucker ones and have looked at the Brodit one but it will hold my phone slightly behind the steering wheel and difficult to see.

Best place I think is to clip it into the drivers centre vent. Any recommendations for a decent holder for iPhone6 which won't wobble about or damage the vent.

I use it on the top vent but you can use it on the middle vent. Portrait or landscape. I covered the lairy graphic thing in the middle with a silver foil disc and it looks good, yet you don't notice it.

The magnet is means it's not bulky and you can put the phone on and off without and fiddle whatsoever.

I bought a CD mount one and used it vertically in the gap between the glovebox and the side trim for the vertical centre stack. Worked perfectly unless someone opened the glovebox...
Still use it in my L405.

I have the Brodit clip and holder which fits to the right of the sat nav. Perfect place to view and very sturdy.
About £45 for both from memory.

I use a Yosh phone holder, magnetic that you just push into your vents. Top little gadget. About £6 from Amazon.

I had one which fitted in my cup holder, worked quite well, now I just keep my phone in my pocket......unless its flat which it is all the time cos its an iPhone..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I paid about £20 for a Belkin device that pushes into the vents, surprisingly stable and easy to use. Easy to move to another vehicle if need be.

I made my tablet holder using a beer can, reinforced body filer, magnet from old HD and a large metal washer.
