Don’t think it needs changing  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I changed from a 2.0 d BMW and the timing chan snapped. Lol

I don’t know the answer to your question, but if it helps put your mind at rest, I know of one on this forum that has done

N47 diesel in the 1,3 and 5 series was supposed to have a maintenance free timing chain too but they supposedly had quite a few failures.

The 4.4 diesel doesn’t seem to have a specific problem with it. Regular service intervals should be all it needs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
