I was all ready for some good snow , but it never came here in the north west , gutted

Dear oh dear.
Heavy snow? More like a dusting for most places and carnage.
What would happen if there were 2 feet of snow or more? This used to be a regular occurrence when I was a kid. There would be food shortages, the country would grind to a halt.
Today's vehicles are ill equipped for any snow fall. Tyres are too wide, too much electronic wizardry, drivers who don't know how to drive in the snow.
Mercs600 summed it up nicely, "You can own and drive the best 4x4 in the world but If all the traffic in front of you is stuck then you're going nowhere also".

I left heathrow at 7am yesterday to drive to Manchester via Stevenage several times on the road between Stevenage and M1 there were numerous cars stuck on hills and I managed to weave between them or use the verge and sailed up every hill gearbox set to snow and Vred winter tyres brilliant combination

Just been reading that the Met Office are issuing warnings that it could be slippery on untreated roads and pavements, what geniuses they must be, if I hadn't of read that I might have gone arse over end, coz I'm too stupid to know that for myself

Best time of year, snowball fights and sliding along play ground , I must be getting old

yes you are getting old and so am i....i had to walk a mile and a half to school in these conditions and because my family were poor i had only daps to wear so i played 'dodge' the puddles on the way..happy times  ... - .- -.
