2008 tdv8 no ignition lights

hi All
im new to the forum so please bare with me
when i turn the key to the 1 postition i dont get any ignition lights ,only the park brake light and the message centre bit at the bottom , the stereo works and so does everything else but i cannot start the engine .eventually after a bit of turning on and off eventually the lights come on and i can now start the car .
could this be a ignition barrel problem or does anyone have any suggestions before taking the dash apart

many thanks

Thumbs Up
A quick update for all out there with a similar problem like I had
Long and short of it having checked and tested most of the electric system the fault was with the ignition switch ,like I explained before my symptoms were as follows
Firstly random lights coming on the dash like self levelled lights warning lamp ,followed by airbag light , then all sorts of errors in the information display ranging from hdc faults to gearbox faults .
Lights, stereo ,seats etc would work fine but no ignition lights at all ,after turning the key about 10-15 times all lights would come on and voila engine start. This got worse very a couple of days until nothing at all ,that’s basically when your switch is knackered and time to replace .the job itself is not too hard to do but in my case as the ignition barrel is located in the dash there’s loads of bits of plastic to remove until you can get to remove the barrel ,I cheated a little but that’s another story 🤭.
A big thank you to Jim at Phoenix in putting up with my phone calls

Happy chappie now and all is well 👍👍
