Nav-TV (TV on the move) install for 08/9 MY anyone done one?

Has anyone here had experience of fitting a Nav-TV TV on the move module?
Particularly interested in an 08/09 MY fitment.
I believe that the IHU is now behind the lower glove-box in the later year models (08/09) - but not certain
Simple plug in of Nav TV kit -but do need to get to the IHU first!!
Would help if I knew where to look and how to get at it !

All help appreciated.

So how do you get to it?
Lower glove box out?
I can see a few small torx screws around edge of the plastic glove box surround.
Presume these are what you take out?

Do you know if anyone has got a picture file on glove box removal?

Am pretty competent at this sort of thing but - it just helps if you know how it all comes apart first....
An exploded diagram or a few pictures would help!

Excellent.

A good torch is required Thumbs Up

I'll try with just the kick panel first....

(except I have farmers size hands to go with 6'2" and 19 stone!)

Will let you know how I get on if I can ever unfold myself out of the footwell. Very Happy

Oh. and I'll take the camera out to the workshop.

Cheers

All done!

Relatively easy job - just fiddly.

Took about an hour.

Have posted 14 pictures into my gallery - showing steps. Like this one showing wiring loop installed but yet to get pushed back into the recess.

It works a treat - only cuts out for reversing camera - and is switchable in or out using the track down button on the steering wheel.

Alternately if you're in stop start traffic, your passenger can still watch the news etc...

Thanks to RRUK for the diagrams - they did help undersatnd what was under the glove box.

Thanks to Ken for the tip about not having to remove the lower glove box... it worked> Thumbs Up
Reckon I took three times longer - because I had to keep stopping for tea and biccys... Whistle

Now have happy other half!

Noddy,

I think you'll find that only works with BMW header units - when they upgraded the Nav to touch screen they changed from CAN Bus architecture only to a mix of CAN Bus and MOST.
The latest TV uses MOST technology.

This needs a digital signal processor to 'fool' the TV control unit (IHU)

That's what Nav-TV sell. See: http://www.nav.tv/

For RRUK -

Cost?

For an 08/09 MY FFRR it cost me:
£184.54 for the unit
£6.50 postage
------
£191.04 in Total

Not cheap - but it is switchable -and does work. Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 - L405 (now sadly sold)

Have to say that quality is pretty good - but it does depend on where you are.
The freeview channels are all pertty damn good - but when travelling near Oxford this morning my morning news was cutting in and out a bit (I was doing 80!)
I was just listening to sound on the BBC News channel - and had the Nav screen up so not sure what was happening to the picture.
I know it doesn't like our steel sheet clad barns - as when I was installing the Nav TV module - I thought afterwards that the signal had degraded... but actually it was just I hadn't tried to watch the TV when parked up in the barn before... Banging Head

All in all very useful - especially if you're waiting for someone, or stuck in traffic. (Regular occurrence around Manchester)
