Anyone see the Bentley SUV build prog on Ch4?

Interesting insight for those never having been to the Crewe Factory. Have seen a couple in the flesh now adn they are ugly adn brash but grow on me after time - amazing the way some people want to bling them up tho!! Shocked Crying or Very sad Whistle

I'm not a fan. I love the interior, but good god the exterior is unpalatable. Bentley seem to have lost all sense of grace and elegance, and veered off into gaudy rapper bling. Nasty vulgar thing with no class.

I saw it, too, and fully agree with the plumber chap comment.

The looks are still massively too garish for my tastes and it seems to be a car developed for those who favour fake tans and highlights in their hair. That the programme also featured the other harbinger of vulgarity, Khan, said it all.

I watched Harry's Garage on both the Bentayga and L322 and you can clearly see which one he feels most passionate about.

But it did highlight an important difference between the 'new money' and 'old money' mindset. I suppose Bentley have decided from which customers their income and profitability now lays and are providing products to suit. Si. <This is my name.

I've always viewed bentleys and rolls Royce in the same way as a dealer made the comment about the ffrr and the RR sport....

The RR sport (Bentley) is for those that aspire to be.
The FFRR (Rolls-Royce) is for those that are. V8 or else ...

Funny, I'd have had Bentley as old money and RR as nouveau. At least until the Phantom came out and Bentley went downmarket.

The comment about taking the test hybrid on a 'most demanding track' made me smile. Looked like a wet path in the park! 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Styling might not be to everyone’s tastes and Charlie the Pimlico plumber certainly didn't do the Bentley image any favours but having driven one of the cars for some time I have to say I’d have a Bentayga in a heartbeat if I could afford one.

The interior is a very special place to be, the car belies it’s size when you drive it but is it easy to justify at twice the price of a reasonable L405? - no. Is it better - then I think I have to say yes.

So it really comes down to one's perception of value for money but you gotta say it’s beautiful inside and by Christ it’s quick - can’t recall the fuel consumption figures but I guess if you have to ask about mpg you probably can’t afford it😀.

Try one if you get a chance - they’re impressive - Mrs 160DMB said it was the nearest thing to being driven on a cloud she ever experienced. 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
2014 (L405) VSE in Black with Ivory
2011 (L322) VSE in Black with Ivory
2005 (3.2 V6) Porsche Cayenne in Black with Savanna
1999 (P38) VSE in Burgundy (?) with Sand

I've been on a shoot today, one of the guns has a Bentley dealership, he brought with him two of these Bentanugly things.
One diesel and a petrol, I must say they performed brilliantly off road, both on road rubber.
Watching their drivers doing doughnuts on a wet stubble field was mint Thumbs Up
Still think they're ugly, and not alot of boot room for dogs and kit, but credit where it's due they did well.
Thumbs Up
