My rear roof courtesy light has stopped working when the door is opened, it functions fine if you use the switch,
proving that power and bulb are ok.

I have tried the "hold the button for three seconds" to switch the mode from 'off' to 'auto'. This works on the front lights but not on the rear passengers set.

Nothing similar appears from a search, any ideas?

Daft suggestion maybe ...

Have you tried switching them on with the switch.

Then get out, lock car, unlock car. What do I put here then?

as above, switch them on, leave on and lock/unlock... ..  ... - .- -.

That partially worked, the rear courtesy lights operate when locking or unlocking the car, but stay on after engine start, weird.

they should stay on for a short while..did you wait long enough to see them go out.. ... - .- -.

I think so Stan, the front went out almost immediately in engine start, and I waited for the rear to follow suit, perhaps as you suggest, not long enough. I’ll give it another go tomorrow.
