Service due - so soon?!

The fatty was serviced last September (full 5 year stuff) but because of all the lovely restrictions we have, I have covered fewer than 1,500 miles since. I have got out at least once a week and tried to do a good 30 minute plus per trip - taking the very long way round to the supermarket or other permitted place.

And now it's telling me a service is due! Naturally I am inclined to ignore it, but I don't want to Censored up warranty requirements or anything else.

What think, gang?

i believe service schedules are time and miles sensitive ,whichever comes first..

you're in the same boat as many others i'm afraid....i'm annoyed cos i've wasted a years warranty because of the lockdown ...

you could ask the dealer if it needs doing but i suspect they will say yes... ... - .- -.

I do agree about the wasted warranty time, Stan.

If it's just an oil change, it won't be too bad - it seems the most likely to me - but at refreshing LR prices, of course.

If you have a IID tool or similar, check the "fuel in oil" reading.

Reason: When the car regens its DPF, it pumps diesel into the exhaust manifold to raise temps. This will increase over time and when it gets to a level of 7, it will signal an oil change, irrelevant of mileage completed. If your car is attempting many regens, it will contaminate faster.

Mine was serviced in September at 12k miles and then just 2.5k miles later earlier this month the service message appears. I, too have been driving short journeys with a few long one's mixed in and I've made sure on longer journeys to really get the car working as hard as possible to ensure the regen happens to try and mitigate this early service.
My LR dealer completed an oil service under warranty yesterday free of charge and seem to be saying they will continue to do this into the future FOC.
Bit of a pian and inconvenience, I know lots has been written about this one here so I'm not altogether surprised.

And the answer is: fuel dilution. This is attributed to lockdown - even though, as I said, I tried to do a reasonable round trip for the essential visit to the supermarket. How I wish I still had petrol instead of derv.

I tried out the new mega-dealership - Guy Salmon in Sunbury - and was quite impressed. SWMBO less so, eyeing the bill. Whilst there, I got them to look at the supposedly twice fixed A/C...but I will put that in another thread.

Thumbs Up yay, do I get a prize? It's actually quite prevalent on the Ewoke. what was your reading? Mine was 12 when I got the car so did a quick oil change myself and all good.
