Insurance

My insurance is due and am seeing massive increases.

Any ideas on companies that are competitive?

Thx Tony

Cheapest I could find was Tesco Bank insurance, via Compare the Market, L405 SC Autobiography, £350 fully comp. with 12 years NCD and £900 total excess. although low risk postcode.

Mine was due too and like you, the renewal had shot up. Have just switched to morethan who were much more competitive, albeit sadly not as good as JCW’s

I always use confused . Com and get a good range of prices.... other well known comparison sites available.

Ended up with a big excess totalling 750, but for around 5/600 quid premium Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I won’t buy my insurance on price. The best level of cover I came across was with NFU, which included things like new for old for first 2 years, trailer cover, local office to phone or call in to, the ability to leave my dog in the car with the windows part open (and still be insured - incredibly rare!) and breakdown and legal cover - and as a bonus it was the cheapest Shocked

Very postcode dependent though; if they class your postcode as rural, you may have a nice surprise.

It looks like it may be the car.

Don’t think post code has affected the price as we are most definitely in a rural area and crime rate is low.

Have another more expensive 4x4 and that is not as expensive to insure. Also have high performance cars and the increase was nowhere near as high an increase in terms of %.

Never mind, Censored happens as they say.

If you’ve got a rural postcode and exactly the same car as me, it’s worth trying the NFU.

53 years old, full no claims, 35,000 miles a year, including business use of 25,000 miles a year, breakdown and legal, trailer cover, protected NCB for £585.00

My previous insurers for the D4 wouldn’t even cover a vehicle with a value >£65,000

I did a LOT of ringing this year:

Hastings
AA
Tesco
Insurethebox
LVE
John Lewis
MOreThan
Churchill
Direct line
Zurich
GoSkippy (Eldon Insurance)
General Accident (Aviva)
Quote Me Happy
Privelidge (owned by Direct Line)
....and renewed with Aviva because all the above bar one were well above Aviva

But it's a postcode lottery many of the above I tried because forum members had said they were competitive. But when I tried they were way way off.

I know someone who registers his car elsewhere and halves his insurance....

. Cheers, Greg

+1 for NFU, for me very similar circumstances to Red Merie but less miles per annum. £435 with all the bells and whistles they include and a lower excess than my old Aviva policy. Mine is a multicar policy and SWMBO's Disco is the more expensive car to insure Laughing Something to do with ABI ratings Confused

Before trying on a recommendation the NFU I did the usual comparison sites most of which seem to be lesser known companies but Google told me to try Admiral for my multicar policy, I gave up on that idea when the FFRR came in at over £2000 Shocked

I am very happy with the NFU pricing and service but it's now a fact of life we all have to shop around each year now for car insurance! Big Cry

[quote="Red Merle"]. £585.00

That’s pretty good... I really had Hobson’s choice, with only one or two in the frame when getting the quote.. and to be frank not sure they haven’t got to many get out of paying clauses... that said I was faced with silly quotes from some and having bought the car needed to get some insurance PDQ

will check out NFU anyway. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I did find the NFU's obligatory question of "Do you intend to carry any more than 2000 shot gun cartridges at any one time?" amusing though Laughing

I used A-plan for the first time this year and they were the cheapest and the customer service was excellent. 👍

Andy.

Or 2,000 rounds of ammunition, but they won’t cover explosives, or the livestock in the trailer! They were the only ones would would accept a dog being left in the car with the windows left ajar “as long as a thief can’t climb in through the gap” they said Thumbs Up

Everyone else said it would be uninsured. A tip for the dog owners out there!

Just go onto a comparison website and you’ll probably find your existing insurer will be mysteriously less.
Seems through anecdotal evidence, they add 25% onto your last yearls premium, hoping you’ll just pay it. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey
