Hi Guys
As some of you may have seen from my other post my rad change today has resulted in alot of swearing and a damaged water pump pully. Now the pully and the belt are going to get changed this week so to speed things up can I run the car without the fan in place untill the pully can be replaced. Prob a few days? I know my dad ran his old 300tdi without his with no problems. What's the verdict?

No. The 300TDi is a cool running diesel that doesn't need a fan - I did the same a few years ago. The V8 petrol is a warmer running engine so its not recommended to run it without the fan. Get it back on!

Before replacing it, clean the threads up and apply some Koprkote..

I made up a tool which locates over one of the bolts on the pulley and then fit a spanner to the fan nut, one sharp whack with a rubber mallet usually breaks the hold and then just spin it off.

I've had mine off three or four times without major hassle...
