Now Stan, that's interesting as the noise is not in the engine bay but somewhere in the cabin, however I am danged if I can find the source, any ideas? |

My 2004 occasionally does it - normally when its hot outside and it sounds like its coming from under the drivers side. I've never got to the bottom of it but had a couple of theories that it was either a bug splettered on one of the parking sensors confusing it all (not likely) or the ECU cooling fan in the electrics box under the bonnet in front of the driver. Took that out and cleaned it and lubricated it.

have you by chance jet washed it? I gave mine two goes because she was seriously neglected. afterward it went mental every time she was put in reverse, (no there was nothing near the rear sensors) it does now seem to be settling down. turning her off momentarily does stop it though, perhaps ive inadvertently jammed something in one of the sensors.

Interesting Nick, has got worse in this warm weather, its definitely linked to something as can start and stop when boot is opened or bonnet or door. Then starts randomly but I like the hot weather link, will keep looking , thanks ![]() |

another guess is that it could be a faulty bonnet switch and a faulty alarm module.....does the alarm sound ok ie full volume and not a high pitch noise....

Stan, I like your thinking, will try that today it does start when boot is opened as well, but randomly, my guess is something to do with facelift wiring, its a weird noise the source is definitely somewhere behind the lower dash. More annoying than anything else.

the battery would certainly be a concern if this is happening all the time...

I had such a noise for a short period of time, I had a suspicion it was caused by something in the large under bonnet electrics box with the noise coming into the cabin via small air duct from the box ventilation fan. Before I got round to having a detailed look the sound went away and has not returned for some years now. |

another thought is that the conversion might have chaffed or caught a wire that feeds the pdc and when you go over a bump or such it sets of the sounder. ... - .- -.

I would lower the panel above the pedals and expose the PDC sounder box - see if its that making the noise - or maybe disconnect it for a while and see if it still happens. Or press the PDC button when it goes off to see if that stops it.
