Since owning the car the tilt has never worked - telescopic is fine no tilt. I don't even get a noise when trying to get a tilt.

Is there a common diy for this fault?

I have found it in multiple places but they all seem to mention the motor is still wurring but mine makes no noise... Current stable:

Check fuses, just in case. If everything is fine there, you could unplug the motor and test is with a 12-volt voltmeter to see if it is fine or not. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

It could be the connector under the shroud that's been disconnected because of a fault.
I made the mistake of reconnecting ours while sat in the drivers seat with the key in the ignition.
The steering wheel powered down until I was pinned to the seat before I could reach back & pull the connector loose again
I think the nut / sleeve on the end of the adjustment thread slips - so the motor loses track of where it should return to after lifting up as you get out.
Until I can be bothered to sort it out, the connector is staying dis-connected after optimising the position. Paul,
