Foundry interior paint finish refurb

Just thought I'd share this.

Interior was well shabby on the car when I got it. The usual blistering paint and scuffed. I've seen that you can get a colour matched spray but I thought I'd share this as a cheaper more than reasonable solution.

The one on the right is the original finish. The one on the left is "Rustoleum Natural Effects Cast Iron" spray. £8 a can. Looks better in person than on the image actually.

I stripped every bit that I wanted painting off the car, sanded it back to bare plastic, primed it with grey primer and then sprayed a single coat of the Rustoleum. Bone dry and ready to fit back on the car in 30 minutes. My interior now looks like it's just left the factory. Just waiting for the leather dye now.

Naturally, Rustoleum don't bring that product into Australia. Sad Ron B. VK2OTC

I think they sell the Rustoleum Satin Nickel Metallic in Australia.

3rd of the way down this page, someone has painted a handle. Looks similar. Be worth a trip to the shops.

That's not shown on the Australian Rustoleum website.

Tomorrow morning I'll check what I have in my garage (it's 10:30pm and I'm in bed so I'm not getting up go outside in the cold Very Happy )

I bought a can of Rustoleum silver a couple of weeks back to respray our kitchen cabinet handles. It was the wrong colour for what I wanted.

Oh, it looks like this thread has been moved to L322. Ron B. VK2OTC

I'm in bed having just picked my wife up from the airport after her being away in Europe for the whole of August. Why would I get out of bed to go out to the garage? Thumbs Up Twisted Evil Wink

With regards to the handle surrounds I found it easier to buy 2 rear door cards for £30/pair and simply swap the surrounds over - the rear ones tend to get less use and are generally in better condition.

How hard is it to pull the centre console panel out for spraying - the foundry grey cup holder, between the handbrake and the pop-out cup holder? Ron B. VK2OTC
