Pity JLR couldn't have fitted some effective additional security to the car along with all the other refinements.
It really is absurd these cars can be stolen so easily without any damage to them.
Still as it was a gift to Anthony from JLR they will no doubt give him another plus a steering wheel lock and a faraday pouch.

Yes, certainly does shine a light on the problem. You would think the RR would have something along the lines of a tracker or similar for the price. And somerthing you can't simply defeat using the CAN bus...
The tracker on my Porsche has a module that if the car moves without the thing in/with the car it activates the gps tracking and I get a text / call. More than once I've got a cal less than a mile from home having forgotten to pocket the module Embarassed Too many toys, not enough time

They do have a tracker - it does though rely on the alarm being triggered via the InControl System / App. If the alarm goes off you get a call from LR usually within 30 seconds from their Tracking Call Centre. Whatever the thieves are using obviously disarms the alarm. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Thanks Vogue, I thought they might have, but clearly it is not enabled when it needs to be, or too easily defeated.
As I said, whatever tracker needs to be independent of the InControl system.

We have had one car stolen and another broken into on the drive (at our last house). I don't wish it on anybody, as we never quite felt the same way about the cars afterwards.

It can be a pain sometimes having to carry the little module, but its a lot less pain than having the car go missing.
It was one of these trackers that also logged a dealer ragging a friends RS6 when it was in for a service. That left the garage with a bit of explaining to do Rolling Eyes

Incidentally, Ford vans are renowned for being easy to pinch, due to the ease with which all their systems can be defeated via OBD. This has resulted in locking covers for the OBD ports becoming almost a necessity.
Maybe this is something to consider on the RR. If it is difficult to access the connector it delays them trying to thieve it in this way. An alternative would be to relocate the actual OBD connector, and fit a dummy in its place.
Just a thought. Too many toys, not enough time
