I wired ours into the rear fuse box - really easy, nothing to unscrew. Straight across the headlining on the right hand side and then down the C pillar into the fuse box. |

One of the reasons I ran my wire down to the fuse box was because I didn't want to tap into a wire up there and I wouldn't have known which wire to use. However, running it down to the fusebox took an extra 10 minutes and that was the way I had done it on my previous D4's |

Great ‘how to’ Hairy Dan! One question though; how does the A pillar trim actually come off? I’ve removed the ‘airbag’ tag, taken out the bolt and the door seal but this only succeeds loosening the trim a bit - are there any clips or a particular direction to pull in? I don’t want to break anything (or set the airbag off!!). |

I seem to remember once the screw is out and the door seal pulled away I pulled the top out first and levered it down as there is part of the lower that slots down between the screen and the dash. As far as I can remember there aren't any other fastenings or clips apart from the screw |

One thing to consider if someone is using this as a guide, is if your unit has GPS for speed cameras etc. Before you pick the final place and stick it in (with the worlds most stickiest 3m tape) trial it in a few places as I found (the hard way) that when I took my unit out the L322 and put into the L405 the screen/car is much more difficult to get a decent GPS signal |

@Stan - I spent most of the afternoon trying different positions on the windscreen. I managed to grab a signal once, but couldn’t reproduce it. Didn’t think about turning the vehicle around, great idea, think I’ll go and try that now. |

Brilliant how-to, thank you just hard wired mine. I had the same issue as "Nooney" in that the A pillar trim refused to budge (I have been known to be too cack handed so I backed off) a curved wire coat hangar enabled me to feed the cable up into the A pillar. I have the NextBase camera & found this kit on Amazon, although it arrived with a full size add-a-fuse (I had already ordered a mini add-a-fuse. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07L59...&psc=1 |

Won't the heat reflective windscreen prevent the GPS from getting a signal..?? @Haylands - Pete, that is the problem I’m trying to prevent. I positioned the camera in the same place as I had it in my L322, which had the heated screen and sun reflective coating (as far as I know) and it was fine. I’m not sure if this L405 has a thicker coating, but I am indeed suffering with a loss of GPS signal.
