On Thursday I will be moving from Cape Range National Park to Karajini, No fuel between Exmouth and Tom price which is around 650k`s. I think I will get an easy 800ks from a tank but have 2 jerry cans just in case. Plenty of milk in the car fridge freezer, I took out the rear seats to shed weight and give plenty of room for beer, wine, fizzy wine and a pint of milk.
A pic of our overnight setup. we get a bit more advanced when staying a couple of days.

Very nice, Wayne. (where's the jealous emoticon?) Thumbs Up

However, why is your car so clean after all those dirt roads? Whistle Ron B. VK2OTC

This mornings view from the tent.

just over the dune... dead centre is an Osprey on its nest.

Ron, Perth to Exmouth is all Tarmac, The ceramic coat polish stuff is obviously working till now. The roads now at Cape Range are unpaved chalky rock. Now the car is covered in dust. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Fair enough. I drove the Disco over to Derby from Katherine (all bitumen) and then part way up the Gibb River Road (dirt).

I think I need that polish on my L322 - it needs a good detail and polish. Crying or Very sad Ron B. VK2OTC

I have driven a few times from Newman to Port Headland all blacktop, Then have been sent from Newman to Karratha doing the shortcut no blacktop bloody hard yakka with road trains coming towards you, Polish on the 4x4 still won't help.

Racking up the klms now, Over 4000klms 50% on rough corrugated dirt. Have had no cell coverage for over a week and cant upload photos to laptop at the mo. So far car is performing brilliantly, One puncture from an arrow head stone comming off the dirt into Tom Price. I did a repair and holding air. A reverse light lens has shook loose but not lost. After one 8 hour non stop run the tickover was just off smooth but after a few minutes all good.
Last available picks.. View from tent

Plenty of dust now fron dirt / unsealed roads

My Mppt Solar controller linked to 225w solar panel, does a superb job banging out 14.3v when needed and 13.8 float. Alway got a freezy cold beer in the fridge freezer

Looks good. Continue having a safe trip.

Much dust ingress?

BTW, which brand/model MPPT charge controller do you have? Someone's real world experience is better than some gushing suspect reviews. I'd like to be sure i'm getting maximum performance from my panels.

Cheers

The camper trailer has been tried and tested over 6 years and has Zero dust issues although I now need to adjust the locks on the front box as a bit is getting in. The car was fine until I inadvertently opened a back window and copped a good coating of red bulldust. Some of the roads have been teeth-jarringly shocking for long stretches, the worst so far between Parabadoo and Mount Augustus. The roads around Karajini were pretty horrible, have seen many 4x4`s and caravans with shredded tyres. One big Off Road Caravan with collapsed suspension with the wife of the couple literally in tears.
The Controller was A$110 via Aliexpress and has been in constant use in my garage keeping several cars batteries on constant float, the panel on the roof. 101% recommended. I am travelling with two others and they have the 4x4 folding panels with pwm controllers and they cant keep up. Mine linked to a used $50 house panel and and the MPPT controller is a solid choice.

Last week whilst still at Cape Range National Park there was a Full Moon. A Ranger Told us there was a rare Sunset and Moon Rise at the Same time so I took a Shot of Both a few minutes apart from the same spot ontop a sand dune...
